Angelo Bodega NYFW 2022
Rizos Curls had the honor to be one of the brands featured in Angelo Baque’s Bodega NYFW 2022 activation. Baque debuted the limited UPS x Awake NY collection, “Unidos Para Siempre” in the open-to-the public “La Bodega Baque”. It was an immersive space for community created to celebrate and show support for Latinx businesses and to uplift Latinx creators. The brands featured included goods, designer apparel and Rizos Curls!
For Baque, a born-and-raised Latino New Yorker, the bodega concept was a no-brainer. When asked how he choose the list of LatinX brands to be part of the activation he said “The curation goes back to the sense of community... It was a diverse selection, just like you’d find at a bodega, and I wanted to shine a light on that young talent that’s out here hustling and creating premium products.”
The bodega on the corner of Spring St & Lafayette was only supposed to hold 30-40 people but it ended up turning into a block party on opening day. After attendees shopped around inside the bodega, in true New York fashion people stuck around to socialize outside. It was a night of celebration, community, and unity.
